Students may submit their applications via Google Forms, which can be completed entirely online. We recommend using a laptop or desktop rather than your mobile device so that the forms behave correctly.

Teacher Recommendations

All applicants must select two (2) teachers to provide recommendations on their behalf. Ultimately, students are solely responsible for getting Google Form Recommendations from their teachers, and teachers are happy to provide them for you. We’ve tried to make it easy, and it only takes a few minutes.

Students: Please do not wait to request these recommendations!!  Do it ASAP and then follow up!
If you are having trouble with this component, contact Scholarship Chair Kristy Peters at scholarship@mccalumptsa.org; she will help you.
All teacher recommendations must be received by Friday, April 10, 2026, to be considered.

How Awardees are Selected

Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on a holistic review of the following:

  1. Essay (300 words or less)
  2. Extracurricular Activities
  3. Community Service
  4. Honors/Recognitions/Awards
  5. Employment/Internships/Community-Based Instruction
  6. Teacher Recommendations (2)

Note that GPA is not taken into consideration.  As long you are above a 2.5, you qualify to apply and are on equal footing with all other applicants.

Payment of Award

Typically, scholarship awards are paid by the PTSA in single lump sum directly to the student’s chosen institution or program.  In rare cases, and when appropriate, an exception may be made and a recipient may request that the award be paid to the student directly.
